Building a Healthcare and Life Sciences Ecosystem Driven by Technology and Empowered by Artificial Intelligence

The Changing Landscape of China's Healthcare Industry
China's demographics are facing rapid and unprecedented changes. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, it is projected that the elderly population will surpass 400 million by 2035, making up more than 30% of the total population2. This is the largest and fastest population aging in human history. China's economic development, social security, and healthcare systems will face immense pressure. This puts higher demands on all healthcare professionals and will also bring significant opportunities of paradigm and technology innovations in our industry.
The overall demand for healthcare services is surging and innovation of healthcare delivery model is imperative
As our society accelerates into an aging demographic, the demand for healthcare services is showing a significant upward trend. According to statistics, more than 78% of elderly people suffer from one or more chronic diseases3, and their medical expenses are significantly higher than ones in younger age cohorts. How to promote the comprehensive upgrading of healthcare service models through building a multi-tiered healthcare system, how to apply technological innovations into real-world healthcare service delivery, how to further optimize the patient experience, and how to use medical resources more efficiently - these questions bring along vast market opportunities.

Non-acute healthcare demand is rising, creating significant market opportunities
Another distinctive feature of an aging society is the sharp rise in demand for non-acute medical care, driven by the high prevalence of chronic diseases among the elderly, which often require long- term care and ongoing healthcare management. At present, China faces a significant shortage of professional rehabilitation institutions, nursing resources, and related talent reserves, leading to restricted service capacity. The development of non-acute rehabilitation and long- term care systems is still at its early stage, with substantial space for future growth. Increasing investment in this area will not only meet the growing demand but also yield significant social and economic benefits.
Pressure on healthcare financing highlights broad scope for innovation in diversified payment systems
China's health insurance fund is the main source of payment for basic coverage, but the aging of the population continues to drive diversified and layered demand for medical services and medicines. This provides an important opportunity for innovation in the healthcare payment system, and there is an urgent need to meet these new needs through the construction of a diversified payment system. The health insurance industry is actively exploring and innovating a range of insurance products. The innovation of a diversified payment system will not only help ease the pressure on healthcare financing but will also provide patients with more flexible and diverse payment options.
Technology and artificial intelligence are changing healthcare's landscape, while life sciences are deeply integrating with healthcare service industry
With the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technology, the growing demand for healthcare services presents vast opportunities for artificial intelligence applications in healthcare sector. Through disruptive innovations, artificial intelligence can optimize the allocation of healthcare resources, enhance the efficiency of healthcare systems, and deliver more personalized and precise care to patients. At the same time, improving the quality of healthcare also depends on ongoing research and development of novel drugs and advanced medical devices. At the frontier of healthcare industry, achieving the deep integration of life sciences and healthcare services represents both a challenge to the innovation capabilities and an opportunity of all the industry players to drive the healthcare industry moving forward. New Frontier Group was set up to meet those challenges and capture those opportunities.
