New Frontier Health has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Unimed.

Unimed is the first fully licensed and the largest doctor group in China with over 300 affiliated registered doctors across 34 specialties. Unimed currently operates six affiliated medical centers and clinics in Guangdong.

New Frontier plans invest up to RMB1 billion (~US$150m) to establish at least one multi-specialty hospital in Guangdong, which is expected to be completed in 2-3 years. It is also planning to build an additional 10-20 outpatient centers and clinics in Guangdong.
